Who is Grandma Bear?

A little bit About Us…

Grandma Bear, the Creator

My name is Jo Blackwell (aka Grandma Bear) and I am a writer, photographer and proud Grandmother.  You can find out more about me and my other projects on my website:  I believe passionately that children need to run, jump, explore and play in the great outdoors. Playing outside promotes resourcefulness, resilience and confidence, encourages creativity and lessens anxiety. In my experience, children who are grubby at the end of the day are happy children!

Of course, I couldn’t have brought this project to fruition all by myself. I am very lucky to have a creative, dedicated and very lovely team of freelancers to call upon, each of whom I would warmly recommend:

Sally, the Bear Maker Bear

The brothers were commissioned from one-of-a-kind teddy bear maker, Sally Thomas. Sally can be found in her shop, Bear With Me in Kettering, Northants, which is an Aladdin’s Cave of teddy bears old and new. Why not visit, or even have a bespoke bear made just for you?

Dan, the Composer Bear

All the original Music composed for the Three Brother Bears is by Dan Blackwell, who composes beautiful, original music for TV, Commercials, Computer Games, Corporate Websites and Advertising. You can contact him via his Facebook project page, 4bar Collective.  Currently based in Sydney, Australia he works remotely with companies worldwide. If you call him, please remind him to phone his mum.

Sally, the Marketing and Events Bear

SallySally, maker of beautiful handmade teacosies and other items using recycled jumpers and vintage fabrics, is a co-founder of One Fat Hen, organisers of vintage fayres, teaparties and other events. She is also responsible for sewing many of the beautiful bear props and is chief thinker-upper-er of activities for the Treehouse Club play dates.

Luke, The Graphic Designer Bear

zaposhereThe gorgeous design of the website and branding for the Three Brother Bears is the work of the very talented Luke Knight of Zaposphere. Take a look at his website to see if he can help you launch your dreams! ps: He also draws comic-books and collects robots. Really?… I would never have guessed!
